Our Ashtami Trip to Balagarh

We went to Balagarh on a rainy and wet Ashtami afternoon. After reaching the Sripur village, we had a quick lunch with paneer and rice.

Baba parked the car under a Banyan tree and we took a few minutes walk on a village road to reach the ancestral home of my baba's friend.

There was a Durga temple whose roof looked like a overturned ship. It was made of timber.

Preparations were going on for Sandhi puja.

Later we moved around the village and saw boats of various sizes are being made. These boats will be painted with tar to stop water entering into it.

We saw an indian langur there but it disappeared quickly before we could take a photo!

Soon it was evening. We set out for home. On the way back, we stopped to take a snap with kashful in the background.

I very much enjoyed the trip but what interested me most were the Durga temple and the idol of Goddess Durga because of Her vahan lion had a face of a horse and and Her enemy Mahishasur had deep green skin. I really liked this trip and I hope you will also like it.
